Chapter: 3 A New Friend!!

A Siamese cat dashed up and came running. She hid in a corner. Amber approached her. "What is it?"
"That-that thing," the cat said, pointing. It was a large truck. Amber laughed.

"It's only a truck!" she said. The cat smiled. "Thanks, and I'm Aurora."

"You a stray?" Storm came up and asked.

"Stray? No! I've a loving mistress called Emerald." said Aurora.

"Wish we had loving mistresses too," said Cini.

"Hmm...." said Aurora. "Anyway Emerald'll be waiting. I've to go. You guys comin'? She'll be lonely so she'll be pleased to see you cuz she loves cats."

"Okay!" said Storm happily.

Emerald was happy. She stroked the three other cats.

"Aren't you cute!" she said. "Aurora, are these your friends?" Aurora mewed.

"Come in, I'll get you some food," said Emerald. "You all must be hungry."

Chapter: 2 Wandering About

The three cats wandered here and there and waved at the cats in the pet-shop. How lucky they are! thought Storm. Soon they'd be adopted by someone and taken care of, unlike us.

She began thinking about her past. She was born in a garbage heap. Her mother used to feed her and take care of her. Until, her mother was killed in a storm. Since then, she had been wandering about and had met Amber, a stray ginger cat. Well, not exactly stray, her owner had abandoned her and her mother. Amber's mother had looked after Storm, like her own kitten and now Storm was almost and adult cat. She looked at Amber with a serious face.

"What?" said Amber and started laughing. "You're always getting lost in our daydreams! What is it this time? Your history, I suppose!!"

"Aww, Amber, stop reading my mind!" Storm said.

"She's really a dreamy cat, at times!" explained Amber to Cini, who looked confused.

"Now what do we do?" asked Storm, quickly changing the topic. "This is getting boring!"

Suddenly Cini gave a shout of excitement. "Look! A stream!!"

"Well, that's strange, I've never seen it before, especially in a town like this!" said Amber. Cini rushed off.

"Do you think it has fishes?" she asked. Storm nodded. "Maybe."

Cini caught sight of a fish swimming, and caught it neatly. "Wow! Good shot!!" admired Amber. Soon they were all trying to catch fish. But Cini outdid them all. She was really good at this.

Suddenly they heard a crash!

Chapter: 1 A New Friend!

Storm and Amber wandered round a bit. "So.... I'm feeling bored," said Amber, after a while. "Let's go and do some window shopping! Of course, I know we can't really shop but... you know!"
So they went to a shop. They looked in at the window and at once knew it was a pet shop. "Oooooh, just the thing.!" said Storm. "Shall-" They stopped and turned back. A cat ran out of a house. A woman came behind her, yelling and running. The cat hid behind a corner. The woman looked for her then, as she was nowhere to be found, left. The cat slowly creeped out.

"Hi!" said Amber approaching the cat. "That was a narrow escape!"

"Thanks," said the cat, smiling. "I'm Cini."

Storm came over too, noticing that the cat's leg seemed strange, as if it was fixed.

"Hey, I'm Storm!" she said.

Prologue: The Lost Cat

A black cat woke up. She was near a large garbage dustbin. She was cold and hungry. Now it was daytime and the people were all awake. The cat strolled about, looking for food. She saw a small heap of wast outside a shop and hurried there. She picked a small piece of bread from the heap and ate it. Then she walked away, still feeling hungry. "Hey, Storm!" A ginger cat came running up. "Hi, Amber! What're you doing now?" asked Storm, happy to see her friend. "Nah, wandering, as usual." replied Amber. "Had breakfast?"

"A bit of bread," said Storm. "Nothing else. I'm hungry."

"Here, take this," said Amber and tossed her a piece of hamburger. "Let's go!"
